It is abundantly clear that there is a child welfare crisis in our country. At any given time there are approximately 400,000 children in foster care in the United States with more than 100,000 of those children waiting to be adopted. The statistics about how likely these children are to be victims of homelessness, human trafficking, incarceration, and other significant negative outcomes are staggering as well. It is also abundantly clear in God’s Word that He not only loves these children and their families, but that His plan to care for them actively involves the body of Christ (Psalm 82:3-4, James 1:27, and many more). In every community where there are vulnerable and hurting families, there are also churches who share in this calling.
Adam and Cara Bell founded For The One in 2024 because they believe that the local church is the solution to the child welfare crisis. For The One's mission is to engage, equip, and empower local churches to care for the children and families that are impacted by the child welfare system in their own communities. We accomplish this by helping to increase awareness of the issue in churches across America and then providing them with the tools, resources, connections, and ongoing support that they need to do this important work.
